Wisdom Teeth Removal

The removal of one or more wisdom teeth is considered a “rite of passage” for many teenagers today – but that doesn’t mean they’re particularly looking forward to the procedure. As a Board-Certified periodontist, Dr. Delica is very familiar with the wide range of circumstances and complications that can occur during extractions, and she will go above and beyond to make the experience as relaxing and straightforward as possible for your loved one.
Gum Surgery for Children

Receding gum tissue can leave your child’s tooth roots exposed and vulnerable to damage and decay over time, which is why our team strongly recommends gum surgery to correct the problem. This procedure is kept as minimally invasive as possible, and our goal is to reestablish a healthy and uniform gum line that helps your son or daughter feel much more confident. Dr. Delica can also provide surgical intervention when there is an overgrowth of gum tissue that needs to be removed to make oral hygiene more successful.
Localized Aggressive Periodontitits Treatment

While periodontal disease is much more common than adults, serious cases can still arise in younger people who are otherwise very healthy. Localized aggressive periodontitis is a particular worry, as it can cause serious loss of the alveolar bone, even though the patient will have very little dental plaque present. Is your child experiencing any of the following symptoms?
- They regularly see blood in the sink after brushing and flossing.
- Their gum tissue has pulled away from the tooth and seems very low.
- Their gums are swollen, puffy, and bright red.
If so, don’t hesitate to contact our periodontal office for further assistance. We can help their smile get back on track with renewed oral health.

Tooth Exposure for Orthodontic Patients

Some teeth (typically the canines) may fail to erupt from the gum line and take their natural position in your child’s smile. If your child is about to undergo orthodontic treatment, their orthodontist will likely need our help to expose the non-erupted tooth so that it can accommodate a bracket. Dr. Delica handles this process very carefully and conservatively for pre-teens and teenagers in need.
Lip & Tongue Ties/ Frenectomies

A “frenum” is a tiny fold of tissue that connects two sections of a patient’s inner mouth, limiting motion and often causing difficulty with breastfeeding for infants. In older children, this condition may result in further negative symptoms, including unclear speech, gum recession, a misaligned bite, and more. Thankfully, Dr. Delica can perform a frenectomy by either reducing the frenum’s size or removing it entirely. The procedure only takes a few minutes!
